Recently, we’ve had the opportunity to do a few video podcasts with a Missouri State University business class based on our book The Coach and The Geek: Building a Kick-Butt Culture. I was asked to describe the role that honesty plays in creating a strong culture.
I believe that honesty is a core foundational component in developing a strong positive culture on any team. From honesty, you can build trust, and when your team trusts you, then you have something on which to build. I don’t think this is complex. In fact, it’s so straightforward that I think you can build a great culture by simply following the principles in All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, by Robert Fulghum.
